Change to Louisiana Restoration Project

Due to site issues that arose during planning and development, the Louisiana Marine Fisheries Enhancement, Research, and Science Center project will no longer proceed. This project was originally selected during the third phase of early restoration for the Deepwater Horizon oil spill.

The $22 million initially slated for the project will be allocated to other restoration projects intended to provide and enhance recreational opportunities. We will determine these projects as we develop future restoration plans, following public participation and input.

We have released our first draft restoration plan, which covers engineering and design activities for six proposed projects. The comment period for this restoration plan has been extended. Comments are due by December 9, 2016.
