The Florida Trustee Implementation Group will hold a webinar on “Restoration in Florida” on August 25, 2016 from 1:00-2:30pm Eastern. Register here.

The webinar will introduce the Florida Trustee Implementation Group and discuss Deepwater Horizon restoration planning. We will provide an overview of the BP civil settlement as well as restoration planning processes. We are accepting public comments until Sept. 9, 2016. We are asking for feedback on the types of restoration we will undertake in upcoming restoration planning efforts.

Efforts in the Florida Restoration Area will focus on the restoration of natural resources, such as water quality and habitat, as well as replenishing and protecting wildlife populations such as sea turtles, dolphins, birds and oysters. Restoration will also focus on restoring habitat on federal lands and providing recreational opportunities.

We will develop project-specific restoration plans that are consistent with the funding allocations and goals of the programmatic restoration plan. As part of this process, the public can submit restoration project ideas, and review and comment on proposed project-specific restoration plans. Once approved, implementation and monitoring of the selected projects will begin.
