The Deepwater Horizon Trustees are committed to providing annual reports to the public to show our restoration progress, as well as how we’re utilizing Natural Resource Damage Assessment settlement funds. We also hold annual meetings to provide the public additional opportunities to engage with the Trustees and hear about our progress.

Our anticipated release for the annual reports is the end of May 2019. Following the release of the reports, the Trustee Council will hold our fourth annual public meeting on June 6, 2019, and our second outreach and education workshop on June 5—both in Pensacola, Florida.

2018 Annual Reports

Annually, since the 2016 settlement with BP, we have released reports on restoration activities and financial summaries, including information about fund allocations and expenditures for each Trustee Implementation Group. Due to the recent lapse in federal appropriations, work on our 2018 reports has been delayed. We expect to release the reports at the end of May 2019. The Gulf Spill Restoration website will be updated, and an email will be sent out to subscribers when the 2018 reports are available. The 2017 annual financial report can be found in our update from last year.

Trustee Council Annual Public Meeting, June 6

During this meeting, we will present updates on the progress made by the Trustee Council and each of the seven Trustee Implementation Groups. This meeting will also serve as the annual public meeting for the Region-wide Trustee Implementation Group.

Gulf Spill Restoration Outreach and Education Workshop, June 5

In addition to the annual public meeting this year, we will hold a two-part education and outreach workshop on the evening of June 5 to help community members and organizations learn more about:

  • Basics of the Deepwater Horizon Natural Resource Damage Assessment process and how it is used for Gulf of Mexico restoration efforts.
  • How to effectively propose restoration project ideas.

The workshop will provide an opportunity for dialogue to promote effective engagement. We encourage attendance from community members and organizations familiar with Gulf restoration, and those that want to get involved.
