The Open Ocean Trustee Implementation Group held an interactive webinar on April 29, 2021. Trustee staff provided updates on planning and projects, and we asked for feedback from attendees about various engagement topics through interactive polls. We had more than 60 people in attendance, sharing helpful input on:
- Familiarity with restoration in the Gulf of Mexico
- Interest in planning, projects, monitoring and other activities
- Interest in the different Open Ocean restoration types
- How attendees receive information online and at outreach events
Some early, high-level results showed large percentages of our attendees were interested in:
- Open Ocean funding and restoration planning processes
- Project activities underway now and how we work with partners on projects
- Restoration monitoring plans and our Open Ocean monitoring priorities
We also heard that a majority of those participating receive their Open Ocean information and updates from our website and emails and from the Trustee Council’s annual meetings and other webinars.
Additional input we received included interest in:
- How our projects and activities translate to restoration of injured resources
- How projects are identified from our calls for project ideas and project implementation timelines
These are just some of the takeaways we received from polls participants. Now we’re reviewing the results further to understand ways we can shape and future engagement topics and opportunities. We appreciate all who attended and participated and look forward to continuing the conversation.
